Don't Be Intimidated by the Canon XL1s Mini DV Digital Camcorder

!9#: Don't Be Intimidated by the Canon XL1s Mini DV Digital Camcorder

The Canon XL1s is a very versatile video camera. Even though it is considered a prosumer camera it has been used for shooting feature length movies, documentaries, as well as your every day Internet video.

You can't hurt the XL1s it is a very sturdy video camera that is able to endure the elements for beyond what you would consider to be normal. I have taken the XL1s out to construction sites and used it to shoot CEO's of companies, from cold to hot it just keeps working despite the harshest of conditions.

The XL1s is very easy to learn and use. If you feel intimidated by the professional controls and buttons just put it on automatic and start shooting, it will do all the work for you. As you become more familiar with the controls you can start to experiment slowly adding some of the manual functions into your shots.

The same is true when it comes to focusing the lens, you can put it on automatic and it will do all the focusing for you. This feature is great if you keep the camera focused on a subject will little action in the shot. If you have movement forward and backward from the camera the camera will keep trying to adjust the focus. So, this feature is great but some what limited if you are looking for professional results.

One great feature about the XL1s is you can exchange lens. This means that you can put very expensive lenses on the video camera and improve the quality of the shot. Sometimes, you may need to have an adapter to accommodate the lens.

The XL1s comes with its own microphone. I would recommend that you get a high quality microphone at some time in the future. Audio is half the equation to a high quality video. So, take your time and find a good quality microphone, they range in price so it is up to your budget how much you want to spend.

Another nice feature is the mini DV tape it makes it easy to capture your video into your editing software. All you have to do is plug in your firewire into your computer and your editing software will find the XL1s and start the capture. Then you are editing digital video and can save the mini DV tape as a backup.

Not too long ago digital cameras were very expensive, so most have an analog camcorder instead, but as always technology marches and what was expensive yesterday can be very affordable today. So it is with digital camcorders. They have a lot of advantages that make them the obvious choice if you can afford it, and here are some tips on choosing a digital camera:

* There is a good idea not to buy any camera until I had the opportunity to keep and use it to get reallyitself. This is true because miniDV camcorders, the world's most popular cameras, and are so small that they are actually too small for some people with large hands, and use. Usually only weigh about a pound, and can easily in the palm of your hand. So imagine how difficult it is for some children with the controls and dials on these petite camera violin.

* Make sure you understand the zoom function works and how to get what youneed, when you buy. There are two types of zoom used on digital cameras, optical zoom and digital zoom. An optical zoom lens refers to the ability of themselves and focusing on an issue before it is recorded digitally. Digital zoom is calculated by dividing the digital image that was recorded and a magnifying mirror, it did. What you should know about this is that the optical zoom does not lead to any video degradation, but because the digital zoom is just magnifying the image that alreadycollected, you can easily begin to see in the grainy video. So try to rely on the optical zoom as close as possible for most shots, and the work you choose a camera that at least should have an optical zoom 10Z.

* It 'good to try a digital camera that still shots, since this makes it so much easier to get video and take pictures during the event. Otherwise you will have to carry both a digital camera and a digital video camera at the same time andback and forth. But always have a camera that lets you make digital recordings can not eliminate this expense. Often, the camera has a built-in flash of the camera in low light. Very often the digital images on a removable memory card that lets you print on your computer can be loaded and saved at a later time.

A digital camera opens up many possibilities as you can also transfer videos to your computer and add text or music, if youhow. In essence, you can become your own little film with the director of miniDV cameras of high quality that are available today.
